Beautiful, Paul. I have dwelt in the mystery of Holy Saturday for many years now, since shortly before my brother, Tim, died by suicide. It's such a hope-filled day. Regis Martin’s The Suffering of Love: Christ’s Descent into the Hell of Human Hopelessness is a great resource. It's a mystery we would all benefit more from meditating on.
thank you Paul, deeply healing and profound and true, sharing with my daughter, better than any homily I’ve heard from the past couple of years I love your references to Pope Leo s audiences, blessings
Happy Easter, Paul! Mercy flowing to the deepest and darkest of places in my soul.... I'm so grateful God pursues us. Interestingly so, I spent some pondering time on this very thought, especially what it would have been like for Judas to recognize Jesus in the deepest and darkest place of his soul. Thank you for bringing that back to my attention today, so I can remember that the joy I experience has its source in gratitude for Jesus' mercy that flows to the lowest. Amen!
